Following the spread of the pandemic Coronavirus, the Pastors’ Council of the Cherubim and
Seraphim Movement Church, CSMC Worldwide, has called for a chain prayer session for the country and the world at large.
The Conference Supervising Pastor, Special Apostle Pastor Moses Ademola Popoola, in a letter recently, urged all Zonal Supervising and District Supervising Pastors to intercede for a divine and lasting solution to the pandemic for the country and the whole world.
According to II Chronicles 7:14 which says, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
“I like to use this opportunity to invite you all to join me in a chain prayer session tomorrow, Wednesday, March 25, 2020, by 9.00 am from wherever you are around the world as we intercede on behalf of our country, Nigeria and the world, for a divine and lasting solution to the pandemic,” Pastor Popoola said.
To further abate the spread of the virus, he encouraged the pastors to be abreast of the pandemic, having the safety of its members at heart, while the members of the sects should take necessary preventive measures.
He said, “We are aware of the COVID-19 pandemic which has posed a great threat to humanity but the Bible makes it clear that the Father has not given us the spirit of fear. So, all hands should be on deck at this critical moment to ensure the well-being of all our members. More than ever before, we need to be more committed to the flock as we tend them past the wilderness of life.”
He advised all pastors to stay updated on the pandemic in order to know what to do at any time. “In the same vein, members should be regularly informed of the best precautionary measures to take,” Popoola added.
He further urged the Pastors to support the directives given by the government while he gave them the guidelines to follow in their places of worship.
He said, “Like in every other nation of the world where the pandemic is holding sway, the Nigerian Government has given directives to ensure the protection of all and sundry. As partners in progress, we are all enjoined to support the government’s initiatives to keep us safe.”
Advising members to stay indoors and avoid social gathering, Pastor Popoola encouraged the church leadership to observe a brief prayer service in place of Sunday services, emphasising that no service should exceed an hour.
He said, “Members should be enjoined to stay indoors. All social gatherings should be limited as much as possible. Church services must be avoided as much as possible in observance of governments’ directives.
“In place of Sunday service, a brief prayer service with the church leadership, Pastors, Prophets, Evangelists and Teachers should be observed (for as long as you are not up to 50) to worship God and make intercession.
“No service should exceed an hour as stated above and physical distance must be observed (each person must be 6 feet away from the other).” Pastor Popoola emphasized the use of hand sanitizers at every service while members should be enlightened on how to stay safe.
He also encouraged pastors to place calls to their flocks to check up on them.
“Hand sanitizers should be conspicuously placed at all entrances and monitoring officers assigned to them to ensure every worshipper washes their hands before entering the place of worship. A portion of every service should be dedicated to enlightening members on how to stay safe,” he noted.
He declared that pastors should call all their members regularly to know how they were doing, adding that priority should be given to elderly people.
He encouraged members to pray fervently from their homes for the healing of the country and the world.
