Chairman of the Mega Praise 2.0 Concert Planning Committee 2019, Elder Brother Segun Adewunmi, in this interview with Emmanuel Abodunrin, speaks about the Mega Praise 2.0 Concert coming up on December 21, 2019, at the Seraphim Land, KM 40, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Asese Town, Maba, Ogun State
What are we expecting at the second edition of Seraph Youths Mega Praise Concert happening on Saturday, December 21, 2019?
It’s going to be massive and it’s going to be a concert/ praise night with a difference; we are not just packaging another concert or doing another jamboree. We have been having a lot of concerts and praise nights but this is going to be a concert with a huge difference that eyes might have never seen nor ears ever heard of. According to the book of Psalm 22 verse 3, God inhabits the praises of his people. Our Mother Abimbola Esther Ajayi and our Father, Baba Olori, will be leading all the seraph youths in mega praise. I give you all the assurances that we are going to have a divine encounter; it’s a praise night with an encounter. So I am encouraging all the youth particularly seraph youths to please attend and come with their faith. Let me take you a little bit back into the bible, according to the Acts of Apostle, Paul and Silas were in prison and rather than complaining they were praising God and while praising him, God in his majesty descended in their midst and the prison turned into an atmosphere of miracles.
Are we expecting such an encounter in the mega praise 2.0 concert?
Yes, that’s exactly what I meant; it’s a praise that will herald divine encounter. So you can’t afford to miss it.
We understand that Iya Adura is the sole sponsor of the mega praise concert. So, what do you have to say to her?
Many people have been calling her so many names. Some say she’s the Esther of our time, some says she’s the glory of seraph, some says she is the Deborah of our time; even our Baba Olori said she’s the Ambassador Plenipotentiary of the church. You know a lot of people have been saying so many things but you know what I say about Iya Adura; I say that she’s an answered prayer to decades of prayers in the C&S Church. Our father has been praying for this time since the foundation of the church so the answer to that prayer is Abimbola Esther Ajayi and you can see where God is using her to place the C&S Church.
So, how many people are we expecting at the mega praise 2.0?
At the first edition, we had over 20,000 seraphs and this year we are expecting to host about 35,000 Seraphs and non-seraphs.
What are the logistics put in place for the concert?
You can trust Iya Adura that any programme she’s involved in, transportation won’t be an issue. We have free transportation to and fro the programme. For Lagos alone, we have over 200 buses that will be in every corner that will move our people, both Seraphs and non-seraphs, from all the four corners of Lagos State. So we have made arrangements for everyone that will be coming outside Lagos. We are also expecting people from the United Kingdom, Ghana. Mind you, to herald this year’s concert, we are having the duo of Tim Godfrey, our mummy in gospel music, Mama Fashoyin of the evergreen choir in Ibadan; our very own Lanre Teriba, Dare Melody, Adegbodu Twins, and Aduke Gold, among others. We have also selected some of our own upcoming seraph artistes. About 10 of them will also join the established artistes to sing the praises of our Lord, the God of Moses Orimolade Tunolase. Heavens will open that day and it promises to be a very massive one.
One of the greatest challenges the white garment churches has faced is the issue of biased especially by the non-white garment-wearing churches, I’m sure you are aware of this. So what role do you think this concert might play to change the narrative?
You know that scenario is becoming history now; Iya Adura just said she got an invite from Dr Olukoya of MFM. You know she was at the Holy Ghost Convention of the RCCG after Celebrate the Comforter. A lot of things are happening, so those are stories of the past. It’s no longer happening; things are changing for the C&S and we are taking our rightful place in the Christendom.
Finally, when filmmakers want to project fake pastors or fake men of God, the next thing is they turn to the white garment and this has become like a stereotype. What is your view about this and what do you think can be done to change this challenge?
Exactly what we are doing now by propagating the gospel. Let me say this again that we are not just having a concert, as our praise is going on, they will be coming intermittently with word of God and prayer ministrations. All the prayer hours will be observed so it’s going to be a mixed bag of blessing. We are the book people read, things are changing in the C&S Church; those negative storytelling days about us are gone, new things are happening. Only two weeks ago, some members of the Theater Arts and Motion Picture Producers Association of Nigeria made our mummy, Abimbola Esther Ajayi, the Grand Matron of the association. So things are changing in the church.
