One of the leading female gospel artistes in the country, the irrepressible Evangelist Bola Are, has called on women to obey God’s commandments, focus on Jesus Christ, honour their husbands and train their children. These, she said, were some of the recipes of a strong and enduring marriage.
She encouraged women to be examples of biblical matriarchs
like Sarah and Mary in everything.
Evangelist Are also advised women to be respectful to their husbands and lead their children in the right way.
In an interview with Sunday INDEPENDENT recently, she said, “Women should be steadfast in all they do and they should also focus in the ways of Christ. A woman is a key to her family; she builds the home; without a virtuous woman, the home will be in disarray.”
The gospel music maestro emphasised the need for women to be industrious and not allow their achievements to get into their heads.
She added, “Women should be well industrious as it is what men can do women also can do. Women should take that as a challenge and not be lazy. As a woman, you should focus on Christ by obeying His commandment and give honour to your husband.
“Don’t be aggressive to your husband because you are wealthy or because you are in a good position more than your husband otherwise, you are going against the commandment of God. Don’t be rude to your husband be it in the secret or in the public.’’
She continued, “I always tell women that a poor husband is your help; if he does not have anything and you have, you can be a great help because I assisted my husband in school for eight years abroad in different countries and I still call him daddy.
“He is dead now but I still honour him. We should understand that women are the pillar of the home and that’s why Proverbs 31 verses 29 to 31 say ‘many daughters have done virtuously but they excellent them all, favour is deceitful and beauty is vain but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised, give her of the fruits of her hands and let her own works praise her in the gate.’
She admonished the women to stay away from what they did not want their children to do.
He stated, “Whatever he does not want his children to do, don’t do it; as a woman, you must behave yourselves and obey God’s commandments, dress your children in a decent manner, take care of your husband and take care of your family and let God come into your family.
“The bible says clearly in the book of Proverbs 31 verses 10: ‘who can find a virtuous woman and a capable wife? She is more precious than rubies; we should focus on our families and leave the things of the world.”
